FAQ
What kind of characters can I app?
Any fictional based characters regardless of their medium can be played. If we feel a character is too closely knit to a celebrity (i.e. Nostalgia Critic) we will ask for you to consider another character. Original characters, Canon AUs, and Game Transplants are all allowed. (Transplants are limited to one game). Until the game grows, we are allowing only (2) versions of the same character. At this time, we will not be accepting canon original characters.
Can we playercest characters?
No. Playercesting is not allowed in game.
My character has a pet, can they come?
Characters with pets may have their pets vortexed with them. Provided the pet isn’t huge. Pets no larger than a dog are able to be summoned along with their owners.
For Pokemon characters, Pokemon exceeding the scale are unable to pass through even while in their pokeballs.
What about weapons and other items?
Characters will be able to bring weapons and any other items they are carrying at the time of the vortex. Weapons and items will, for the most part, retain their magical/power properties. However, we ask that you get them cleared first to prevent any confusion of what they can/cannot bring upon being accepted into the community. As well as what they can/cannot do. Please post in the request form for approval.
My character isn’t/doesn’t resemble a human (and/or is larger than one).
So far, only humans exist within this world. If your character looks something other than human, they are likely to draw a lot of attention. Natives of Elsweit will be mixed, some will accept. Others will fear. Unfortunately, it also means that Asha will be able to find them faster.
Characters larger than average are required to scale down. That means your favorite transformer will be human sized if you choose to play one.
What happens when Asha discovers my character?
They will be forced to join the military. Military enlistment is optional so long as your character isn’t caught, but if they are, there is no opt-out. If you do not want your character to be part of the military here are some tips to help you avoid getting drafted.
- Make sure they’re human/look human
- They have no powers/able to hide powers
- Live among the crowd
- Adhere to laws to avoid drawing attention to themselves.
Once your character has been drafted, they will be required to go on assigned missions delegated by their superior officers. These mission events are MANDATORY. You may only be exempt of them if you're on hiatus.
Will my character be able to retain their powers?
Yes. The whole purpose of summoning other characters, was to recruit warriors on the off chance they have magic (or any other type of power). We ask that any characters with game-breaking abilities be nerfed. We’ll leave the degree of their power to your discretion, but if we feel they still have too much power, we’ll ask for you to take it down another notch or two. We’re trusting our players, here; the mods really, really don’t want to have to pull a Deus Ex Machina after the fact, so don’t give us a reason to.
My character doesn’t have powers, but they were summoned?
Elsweit’s summoning technique is still in its beta stages. Not every character who is summoned will have an ability worth seeking. However, that does not spare them from Asha. While characters without abilities will have the easiest time blending in with the crowd, if they are discovered, they can be subjected to Alchemic Ore research. It’s an incredibly risky procedure that grants characters the ability to use magic. Characters drafted for this research are subject to die.
Alternatively, if your character has an interest in gaining magic, they can willfully agree to the research. Just know that once they agree, they are forced to be apart of the military.
In addition to Alchemic Ore research, there has been some adverse effects to any who undergo it. But the variations and degree of these effects are unclear. If your character is subject to the research, we will list the effects they may experience.
What happens if my character dies?
For unexplained reasons, characters not of this world don’t stay permanently dead. Characters who die will fade away within an hour of passing. They will reappear in a random part of the city with their wounds healed. Depending on the degree of the wound, there may be a scar. So far, Asha is unaware of this detail, and you’ll want it to stay this way. There will be points in the game where revivals will take a toll. When that happens, they will be clearly posted in the information post.
My character has a terminal illness.
If your character is sickly and prone to dying, they will retain this health until they die. Currently, this world offers no types of medications that would be able to treat any sort of illness they’re unfamiliar with. Once a character dies, and undergoes the revival process, they will be cured of their illness for the same unexplained reasons.
My character is immortal.
Lucky for them, they remain immortal. Just don’t advertise the fact else Asha finds them and tests this claim for herself.
My character requires substances other than food to survive.
Characters who live off blood can continue to do so, as there are plenty of people to feed from. Blood packs don’t exist in this world and therefore will not be provided. If you wish to have your character feed from another character, that is up to you and the other player.
Characters that require something other than blood will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Meaning, if there is no method or alternative method of sustaining them, they might not be accepted.
What happens to my character on hiatus?
Depending on the duration of the hiatus, a couple things can happen to the character.
- 1-2 Weeks:The summoning method will inadvertently drain them of their energy unexpectedly. This will cause them to grow weak and become ill. They will be considered bedridden and unable to do anything while in this state.
- 3-4 Weeks: For the first two weeks, characters will experience the above effects. If the hiatus is longer, they will fall into a stasis caused by the summoning method. This is to prevent them from dying.
Any hiatuses exceeding a month will need mod approval. We understand that life happens. No personal details are needed to request extended hiatuses, just an FYI will suffice.
Very little information is available regarding the summoning method. What is known about it, is that it can summon and rid characters at random. No one knows how it’s powered or why it has the effects that it does.
Can I canon update my character?
Yes. Characters who are updated will disappear via vortex. The summoning method is that unstable that it rids the very characters it summons. Updated characters will be missing from Elsweit for three days before reappearing in a random location in the capital with their newly obtain canon experience.
What if my character doesn’t want to participate on either side?
Characters don’t have to pick a side if they don’t want to. We don’t expect every character to ally with one nation or another. For rogue type characters or more ambitious types, they are allowed to free will their own path, per se. For example, if a character wishes to start a unallied guild, they’re free to do so. However, any organized group that isn’t overseen by Asha will be forcibly disbanded. With that in mind, they will essentially have to be an “underground” guild. Characters acting solo will have an easier time avoiding Asha’s attention.
Is there a language barrier?
No, as long as you remain in Elsweit, there are no current language barriers. However, the language your character is speaking will not be identified as Japanese/English/German/etc.; it will be referred to as “Imperial,” even if, from your characters’ perspectives, they have been speaking this language their entire lives, and the two languages are seemingly identical. In this point of the game, characters are unable to leave Elsweit. Once the map opens up, more will be explained.
Why can’t my character leave Elsweit?
Asha is a very powerful, very controlling empress. She doesn’t want her potential subjects fleeing the city to join the enemy. To combat this, she enlisted a team of scientists to erect a barrier around her kingdom. Characters are still able to leave the capital, but they can’t travel to other countries.
Wouldn’t that prevent trade and ex/imports?
Normally yes, but the military has control over the barrier. They also control types of trade and what goes in and out of the country. Because of this, sneaking out through cargo is not possible. If your character is caught trying to flee the country, they will be executed, no exceptions.
What kind of jobs does this game offer?
Jobs can be found here. We won’t track or micromanage incomes and will leave it to your own discretion, but please be realistic; an entry-level position won't make you a millionaire. Characters, with proper funding, are also allowed to open their own business if they choose to do so. There will be open real estate for them to claim should they make a living here.
What’s the currency?
Eswet is the currency that characters will be using. For simplicity’s sake 1 Eswet = 1 USD. Other countries have their own forms of currency, but characters are unable to travel to them, so this isn’t an issue to be addressed.
Can I run player plots?
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage player runned plots. All we ask if for you to run it by the mods for approval. Some plots may not coincide with the game well, in the event that it does, we will help offer suggestions to make it work. Any ramifications that rise from player runned plots will be mentioned to the player before approval to ensure the player is aware of them and accepts them.
How come there isn’t a network?
Partially because technology for such a device has not yet been created. Primarily because Asha doesn’t want such convenient means of communication accessible for the public. There is such a thing as “snail mail” and pigeon carriers, but both are not effective means. If you want your characters to communicate, they’re stuck doing so in person.
Besides, if there were a network, it would only make it easier for Asha to find you, and that’s something you don’t want. The key to maintain a low profile after all.
What if my character has access to telepathy, or could possibly invent a network?
Your character does so at their own risk. You’ve been warned.

I thought I would put it here as well so people could see it.

In regards to your question, the technology is steampunk-esque level and still in development of growing. Rough interpretations of electricity exist but is mostly reserved for the military. Residential power is more old fashioned.
